Do Curling Wands Actually Work?

Well I have been skeptical about curling wands, because one there just totally new and second they have no clamp to hold your hair in place. Yes, the clamp part does pose a new technique that you have to use, but it takes way less time then a regular curling iron. Especially if you use a curling wand that goes up to 400 to 410 degrees. I used Remmington's half inch to 1 inch slim wand, there are different widths obviously but if your looking to get actually ringlets that make tight curls this width is perfect.

With my long wavy hair it took about a half an hour to do all of it quickly, but honestly the wand works so fast that I got it down I could probably do it in 15 to 20 minutes. My hair goes all the way to my butt! So the quicker the better. Should you get a wand, always go for ceramic. I know that some people swear by metal curling irons because it really puts those curls in place....but what you have afterwards is hair that is more damaged by heat than if you used a clay based coating over your curling iron.

The technique I was talking about earlier was simply taking your strand of hair when you've already gotten the strand wrapped around the base and overlapping it as you go up, because your strand will try and slid off some, overlapping with help as it slides. The overlapped part will get curled. TIP: Don't try and pull it really tight! It will slide off!

I tried to mess with the lighting in this picture so you guys can see the curls a bit better, even though I usually do have curly to wavy hair it usually gets weighed down by how long and how much of it there is. So having something to give it some "umph" really helps.

I would recommend getting a wand to anyone who has a lot of hair, simply because it takes only about 10 seconds for each curl. Just make sure to spray some kind of hairspray or spray gel onto your curls when your done to keep the look for longer. Even if you don't have long hair, having ringlets is always a fun way to switch it up.

Cheers!

The Revolution Is Here!

For the first time ever Sports Illustrated has issued a cover story with a plus size model, Ashley Graham. I happen to love Ashley Graham, I actually did a whole entire article on how she redefines the standards of beauty, and is a leader in the plus size fashion industry. You can read it here on hubpages: http://kattadellic.hubpages.com/hub/Featured-Curvilcious-Woman-Ashley-Graham.  She struts around in the teaser for Sports Illustrated, making men swoon into the pool next to her.

Lookin good Ashley! Work it girly...

The branding has begun!

10:39 PM kattadellic 0 Comments

People don't really take into account how much effort it really takes to start up a buisness, and market that buisness. Branding is all about getting out there and getting known, collaborating with other people who have the same ideas and seeing what you can do to work up. You have to do what every one else is doing, but yet be different and stand out.

Its hard. Fo' sho.

But I have faith. ^.^ This blog is the first really more professional blog I've started. I've started other successful blogs, but it felt like I was forcing my creative juices in order for it to be successful. No bueno. So this time around I'm really putting my best foot forward, although it is hard to put in a lot of time when there is that thing called life going on.

So here's what I promise, I promise to have my own outfit up on here every week and on instagram. Yes, I just started my very own instagram, http://instagram.com/curvy.kitty/ . I hope to inspire and show that beauty comes in all sizes, even though I know that sounds cliche, its true. We plus size chicks are badass, and I think we are in a lot of ways feminist. Not don't take that the wrong way, its a compliment. Feminist just means we want everything to be equal, including size equality.

I also started a Pinterest board for all other inspiration, I have to admit I am a Pinterest addict. I cant help it, there's so much to look at. All the shiny wonders of pixels at the disposal of my finger tips. You can follow me here https://www.pinterest.com/iamcurvykitty/.

I don't want to just have unoriginal content all the time, it kind of makes me cringe a bit when I see blogs that only repost other original ideas and expect to be exceptionally great as a blogger. That sounds kind of harsh, but its the truth. And that's what I do, I'm blunt and straight forward. I tell it like it is. If you are a blogger and are just reposting, that's all good! Its when people complain when they aren't going anywhere and just repost.

Anyways I look forward to talking with you guys, and posting some truly amazing original content that will inspire your fashion or maybe just everyday life. Oh yeah and its always good to laugh, so I may on occasion be a goofy mofo and post silly shite, hope you don't mind :P.

Cheers Dah-lings!

Curvy Wedding Inspiration & Cute Animals

6:48 PM kattadellic 0 Comments

I recently went to the Bridal Expo in Evansville, IN with my future sister in law and had a blast. I was in kind of a rush so I mixed and matched something I thought might not work, but ended up being something of an awesome creation....pardon the quick bathroom selfie....

It was a lot of fun going and seeing everything that's out there, even if I think I might've gone a bit overboard with the crazy cannibal face though...

Still worth it, rental photo booth vendors were giving away freebies

Porky the Pig in a Top Hat

Inovative BBQ fountain

Gotta love the free food

Bridal Runway Show

Gorgeous rocks

Plenty of vendors

Heck yes I am

At the end of it all there was a "Ring in the Cake" contest where whoever found the engagement ring in the cake won a thousand dollars towards there own engagement ring, pretty awesome.

Steve an I have narrowed down the contestants for the rings that we like and here they are...

My Bridesmaids tried on my wedding dress for funsies....

It took quite a bit of endurance of the nerves, but was worth it in the end, lol. And Steve, my fiance, and I went to Target to get registered. They have iphones that you use to register with now....what happened to those clunky 1980s guns? Oh technology....

Annnn drumroll.....me in my wedding dress!

Ringing the "saying yes to the dress" bell

My Aunt Sue, and my Mums

I'm probably going to use this Vera Wang sash around the empire waistline, I love the black and white look.
The dress itself is made by Davids Bridal, I love the tulle, lace and sparkle. I'm usually a size 22, but the dress I'm wearing in these photos is a size 20 and the corset back really helped cinch my waistline.

Its been a roller coaster ride the last 5 months and I'm kinda looking forward to this year and everything it has in store. I'm getting married in May in New Hampshire, it may be an unofficial marriage, and then were having another wedding either this October or next in Kentucky for his family and our friends in the area. So we've been pretty busy.

Random animal shot, I love my boys. Jack, the cha-weenie, and Jasper the giant...lol. Hes half Pyrenees and half chocolate lab.

I still find it amazing that these two get along so well, but they are truly brothers.

Until next time!
